Flowerama Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

1-800-Flowers.com, Inc. is a floral and gourmet foods gift retailer and distribution company in the United States. It was one of the first retailers to use a 24/7 toll-free telephone number, then the Internet, and then conversational commerce via chat/chatbots for direct sales to consumers.

An unhappy customer expressed his grievances on social media, he said " It has relatively high price for average quality. Mostly provides own offerings instead of name brands. Ordering process difficult to navigate and the glue holding the basket items together a little difficult to remove. The service charge was 30% of the price of the flowers which is very deceiving and not a good experience."

Former Employee - Retail Sales Associate says

"I have never come across a more poorly managed company. Zero diversity in the workplace and constantly had to deal with inappropriate racial and sexist remarks. Zero room for development/growth within the company. Without a doubt the most unprofessional environment I have ever worked in."

Former Employee - "Florist" says

"Narcissistic management and co-management. You are treated and threatened as if you are in middle school. A lot of backstabbing and blatant lying. You will never get the opportunity to do floral design. You will be their janitor and cashier."

Former Employee - Sales Associate says

"Flowerama seems like a great place to work, but they pay minimum wage and make it clear from the point of hire that there are no opportunities to grow and ABSOLUTELY ZERO RAISES. Manager at the Middleburg Heights location turns a blind eye to all the drama in the workplace and plays favorites. If you're not willing to brown-nose, don't bother working here. Hardworking employees are taken advantage of and are expected to do more work than the others. If you're sick with the flu and throwing up, you're still not allowed to call off. If you can't find someone to cover your shift, you still have to come in. They act like commission makes up for the fact that they pay you minimum wage, but commission hardly amounts to anything. I'd say like $40 every two weeks in commission is more than most people get. Working here, you will be expected to answer phones, sell flowers, make flowers, cash people out, water all the flowers, clean buckets, water outside and take deposits to the bank for them. A lot of work for minimum wage."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"The owner was rude and had no clue how to manage Was given incomplete training then left to run the store alone No real management"

"I appreciate the small business mom and pop feel, but getting paid 9$/hour without tips was not close to a wage i could live on. Its also illegal and felt a little disrespectful."

Florist Designer (Former Employee) says

"Hostile work environment. No advancement. Underpaid and they will hire anyone who walks in. If you enjoy working with hostile people and for a company that allows its employees to be disrespectful then this is the place for you! Take my advice and run the other way.NoneEverything"

Delivery Driver (Former Employee) says

"they try to work you to death on holidays and the manager was the worst I had ever experienced. Everyone else was very nice and fun (other employees I worked with).Holidays were so disorganized as well as most days.Had me mostly doing things that was different than the job I had Applied for. The manager seemed to like to have someone to kick around when she felt like it or maybe it was her way of trying to get someone to quit because they might be able to find someone cheaper to do the job.pay was okay and vacation pay was okaymoody manager that was very incompetent and mean spirited"

Designer, Store Merchandiser (Current Employee) says

"You can thrive and learn as much as you can about the floral industry but this place has horrible management in terms of: scheduling, professionalism, accountability, proper employee reviews and rewarding hard work instead of flattery.Working with flowersManagement"

Florist (Former Employee) says

"I would not recommend working for this company. This was THE WORST experience I've had in the work force. They underpay employees for the amount of work that is expected of them. Overall management is unorganized and unprofessional. Workers are overworked and underpaid."

Customer Service Representative/Designer (Former Employee) says

"Minimum wage is what you start out at and the managers are very stingy and do not give more than 0.15 cent raises if you're lucky around once a year. Husband and wife management team and they are dreadful to work with. Owner does not confront you about issues but instead talks about you behind your back to other coworkers. He does this to most workers there. The wife is extremely rude its unbelievable. Acts like a high school bully, just read google reviews from customers. All the other girls who work there are very sweet though."

Artist Designer / cashier (Former Employee) says

"I loved working for them but when I told them I had bigger dreams to move to Las Vegas and advance with work they took it wrongly and now when I use them as reference they give companies bad reviews about me. Very un professional."

Customer Service Representative, acct, sales (Current Employee) says

"During the summer very slow. Must multitask and deal with death, anniversaries, etc. Very people oriented. \ Hardest part of the job is getting barley any hours and trying to raise a family. Management is difficult due to playing favoritism. But allows me flexibility for my daughter. Most Enjoyable is the customers and the phone calls. I am able to be compassionate to their needs and wants.FlexibilityBarley any hours 10 hrs a week"

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) says

"Its an ok place to work at. Management was hardly ever around.nana"

Customer service associate and floral design and plant and flower care. (Former Employee) says

"Never give raises. Do not appreciate you. Can be fun place to work if you had the right co-workers and if upper management cared about you. I loved working with flowers but a lot of drama and never could get the hours I needed. Would work 18 hours and then be down to 8. Up to 30 down to 8."

Florist (Current Employee) says

"A typical work day is doing production which normally takes around two hours and then there’s nothing else to do. Not everyone likes to work as a team so things aren’t as organized as they could be. Management is great and they make the work day enjoyable. The hardest part is normally popular holidays to get flowersFlexible, great peopleNot enough hours"

Clerk/florist (Former Employee) says

"A typical day of work consisted of helping customers find flower arrangements for their occasion and create flower arrangements. I learned how to take orders for customers and answer phones. Management could have been better (such as ran more professionally), but the manager was a fun person to be around.Co-workers made work fun. The hardest part was remembering prices for everything. The most enjoyable part was getting to be creative."

Sales Floor Associate (Former Employee) says

"Employees are nice, but the manager doesn't seem to put her foot down when it comes to certain employees. The schedule was flexible but very inconsistent."

Florist (Current Employee) says

"On a typical day I made floral arrangements, assisted customers, and cleaned the store. I learned how to design floral arrangements and I became very good at doing so. The owners can be a little harsh at times but my coworkers made everyday worth going to work. I loved my time here and the people that I spent the days with."

FLORAL DESIGNER (Former Employee) says

"I learned a lot about retail and customer service while working at Flowerama. I learned a lot about multi-tasking through this job through taking multiple orders, processing them, and providing customer service. I also learned different design skills which I still use to this day."

Delivery Driver (Former Employee) says

"Great co-workers that believe in teamwork. Management is understanding to outside situations that may come up. Laid back environment but you have to be able to manage your time wisely"

Susan Pirnie says

"I will never use your service again when I checked my credit card charges I noticed that you had added an extra 3209 onto my bill when I called to ask about this I was told it was a renewal charge for my membership well number one I never signed up for a membership with you and number two it’s totally unethical for you to just charge this onto my order when they were already shipping charges included in the $80 The other issue I had with you is when I called to check on this charge the sales rep that answered the phone had such a heavy accent that I could not understand a single word that he was saying like I said I will never use your service again that extra charge that you tacked on for three"

Upset says

"This is the second time that I ordered from 1800 Flowers and my flowers didn’t show up. My mother didn’t get her flowers on Mother’s Day and my wife didn’t get her flowers for her Birthday today. Such a let down. Especially in these trying times. I will never purchase from your company again. Such poor service."

Kathleen Nelson says

"The picture of the arrangement on the front page indicated the regular prices were crossed out in red and the sale price for everything was 42.99. However this information was not indicated on order page. The chat representative was unable to help."

Disappointed Husband says

"I placed an order for my 20th anniversary with a guarantee that my wife would receive her flowers at work prior to 5 pm. 15 hrs later, the flowers still haven't arrived. I also chose the option to only show selections from local florists, yet the flowers still shipped via FedEx. Either there is some fine print that I missed, or their vendors are being misrepresented. Either way, I am taking my business elsewhere."
